Sudan: Free after 24 years in bondage
Bakhita Abuk Luol Mabior is 50 years old. 24 of these years were hell. Arab militias captured her in 1984 in the South Sudanese town of Warawar. She was forced to march North with her captors, and became the property of Adam Musa, an Arab man. He had 2 Arab wives, Alima and Hanan who were unhappy with the African slave's presence in their home. Bakhita suffered insults and injuries and was threatened with circumcision. More abuse and beatings followed when she gave birth to Adam Musa's daughter. Bakhita named her daughter Akuol Piol after her late husband Piol who had died one year before her capture. Bakhita was freed in March 2008, but to this day thousands of Dinka slaves remain the property of their Arab masters in Northern Sudan. CSI is committed to liberate them, and asks for your prayers and support.
China: Life imprisonment for Pastor Gong Shengliang
In the People’s Republic of China, Christians have been arrested time and again for refusing to become members of the so-called “Three-Self Patriotic Movement” (Protestant) or the “Catholic Patriotic Association”, both of which are strictly controlled by the Communist authorities. Pastor Gong Shengliang, founder and leader of the “South China Church”, was sentenced to life imprisonment on December 23, 2002. Six years later he is still languishing in jail, and is in poor health. CSI is at the forefront of appeals to the Chinese government to free Pastor Shengliang, up until now to no avail.
CSI is a Christian human rights organization for religious liberty helping victims of religious repression, victimized children and victims of disaster.
